 The small stuff

I have often heard people and read books about not to "sweat the small stuff". However, have you ever noticed that the small stuff is what often brings joy to a person? For instance, I was having a yuck day and decided to get out of the house and go to the mall. I saw a close friend of my mother in laws and for whatever reason went over to say hello. It turned out to be a big deal. She was surprised and happy to see me. We chatted over some coffee, yes even in this hot weather. It helped to cheer me up as well as her. She wasn't able to have her children come in from out of state to visit. So maybe we should think about small stuff. My small Hello ended up as a mood booster today!

 Have you ever....

Have you ever stood in the rain?
Have you ever stood through the pain?
Have you ever watched the sun rise?
Have you ever felt the surprise?
Have you ever loved so deeply?
Have you ever lost the love you deeply had?
Have you ever listened to nature?
Have you ever followed advice?
Have you ever had been torn about what to do?

 Life

Have you ever thought about what you want to do with your life? I happen to catch the title and first 2 minutes of a movie called "Showgirls". It appeared that the only goal of the main character was to become a well know show girl. Is that really worth making a movie about? I admit that I haven't watched the entire movie and I don't want to discredit the girls that do dance and love that as their life's goal. I guess I just want to do something that makes bigger waves. What is it? I can't answer that question exactly but I do know I want to be a more positive influence to others. Maybe I could encourage a student to be our most influential and best president ever if that is possible!?

 Smiles

I recently had a student discover something that made me smile. The quote was "it feels good to make someone smile". I am so glad that this student figured out how a smile can really make a difference to people. So spread it around! Smiles really are contagious!!!

 4th of July

Happy 4th of July to all! I feel that it is a great day to celebrate our country. We all have different opinions, ideas and thoughts about our country. How it should be run, about wars, safety and day to day life. It is one thing that we all need to remember is that our country is one of the few that our flag will stand for us with our different opinions. It doesn't matter if we agree or not. Our country allows us that right. Have a great day, enjoy and think about what our country truly represents. At our school we still have the pledge of allegiance in the mornings. I remind my students that it is that flag that gives them the right to agree or disagree with me, to like me or hate me, to want to be at school or not, to be nice or be a poop! Their attitude is allowable by our flag! What a nice thought when some countries will shot you for an attitude that they don't agree with!
